Tracking Twitter

One of the key features of Optify’s Twitter for Business application is the ability to automatically track results all the way to a lead. This will help you as a marketer know the lead value of your Twitter activity.

Since most of the URLs on Twitter, Facebook and other social networking and blogging services are shortened, as a marketer you may not see the full set of data available to you about your referring traffic. Services like bit.ly “redirect” traffic using a 301 permanent redirect. This is fast and efficient for search engines, but you don’t see the accurate traffic.

Tracking Twitter is easy using the Optify link that includes key destination URL information to track your results. If you’re not using Optify, when you’re promoting your site you can add a manual tracking parameter in the destination URL.

Bit.ly provides a way to see additional data about a shortened link:

Optify uses bit.ly APIs to get all the available data about your links into one place. You can also tag your Tweets with campaigns and lists to organize your work. The combination of tracking URLs and information from URL shorteners gives you insight into your Twitter for marketing activity that will make you a marketing hero.
