What are Keyword Management Tools?

Keyword management tools are tools used to help improve your keyword quality score. A complicated and ever-changing number, a keyword quality score is a number used to match sponsored links with the most relevant searches. You want a high score, and your score goes up for grouping keywords and keyword organization based on relevance, and for having well-written, compelling and relevant text. This is a lot to keep track of and keyword management tools are an outstanding solution to help you optimize your keywords and execute an SEO campaign.

Why Use Keyword Management Tools?

Like we mentioned above, developing a high keyword quality score is a complex endeavor. Using a keyword management tool will help you in bringing all the demands together to get your score up. Bringing your score up means two things:

  1. You will get a higher natural ranking on the search engine results page, and you will pay less for more exposure which equals better positioning at lower costs.
  2. You will have more qualified traffic sent to your site, meaning a higher conversion rate which equals better sales.

Keyword management tools can deliver better results for your business without costing a fortune. Free trials and sign-ups will allow you to try the tools out to make sure they’re worth the money first. Here are some of the tools we like the best:

Five of Our Favorite Keyword Management Tools

  1. The Google Adwords tool is free to use, you just pay for the ads. Most people gear their keywords toward Google’s search engine, so it makes sense to use Google’s tool to research your keywords. You can save specific searches while looking for new ones, compare statistics for keywords with more than one match at the same time. Many other keyword management tools add to what AdWords does, so it can be limiting used alone.
  2. WordStream is a popular tool that has a free trial for a few days and then costs $49 per month. It pulls relevant keyword suggestions from a deep database and can mine your existing site for keywords and offers suggestions as to how to improve it. It also has a nice Firefox browser plug in.
  3. Keyword Discovery has a free trial with no time limits; it just won’t let you access certain features until you pay for the extras. It costs $69.95 per month or $599.95 annually. It features traditional keyword research, common spelling mistakes made by searchers, and includes seasonal search trends and has tutorials to help you learn the program as you go.
  4. Wordtracker offers a 7 day free trial and then costs $69 monthly or $379 per year. It features live support and measures competition for each keyword you research. With over 2,000 keywords suggested per search, its research is extensive.
  5. Keyword Elite is now on its 2.0 version. At a one-time cost of $97, it is one of the less expensive research tools. It has a popular member’s forum about insider tips, monthly webinars about keyword marketing, and can export large lists of keywords into AdWords. Historical amounts paid for each cost per click for any site over the past six months is a popular and useful tool. The software also comes with SEO Elite free of charge.
