Digital Marketing Agencies: Thoughts on CMS Open Platform and Farmhouse Ales – Enjoy Your Own Flavor

July 2, 2012 | by | Category:

It’s the end of another hectic day. I have a half hour free to enjoy a beer, munch on a few Cheez-Its, and write a post. I’ve probably got a low bar at my age, but it doesn’t get much better.

farmhouse ale and your own cms flavor

Right now, with summer approaching in Seattle in late June (you’ve got to live here to get the sarcasm), I’ve got a hankering for a Belgian-style farmhouse ale, and Tank No. 7 brewed in Kansas City, Missouri of all places – see next sentence for irony – isn’t letting me down. I’m trying to think whether I would enjoy this time so much if I had a vendor forcing me to drink Budweiser, and the short answer is, “I don’t think so.”

So I’m trying to understand why a vendor would force a digital marketing agency partner onto a captive CMS? Frankly, I doubt it tastes very good. I started my blogging career on WordPress, all the way back in the era when a CMS was simply called a content management system. So last year I started a blog for a local Swim Across America event I swim in to fight cancer. I’ll hit you up for a donation on my 2 mile open water swim in a later post, but guess what? I used WordPress, because I was familiar with it.

Do you prefer Joomla? Is your team already trained on Drupal? Is the in-house standard ExpressionEngine? Good, because at Optify, we’ve got you covered. We have taken an open platform approach to CMS, because we know how much it costs to retrain all of your folks on a captive CMS (let alone move all your content over). And frankly, it’s disingenuous of a real SaaS partner to force you onto their CMS and then put you over a barrel when you are locked onto the CMS and the pricing scheme gets jacked up next year.

If you’re a digital marketing agency, come talk to us. Ask for me directly if you wish. Choose your own flavor of CMS, because we have an open platform approach and plugins for your choice of content management system. You use WordPress? Great, find the Optify plugin on the directory.

In short, drinks are on us – whether it’s an IPA, margarita, pilsner, pinot noir, or stout.
At Optify, we’re easy to do business with.
